CROP UPDATES: PINEAPPLE JUICE - Q1 2023

The 2023 pineapple crop in Thailand will hopefully begin shortly. However, the weather there has been very hot a dry over the past month and the plantations are in dire need of rainfall. Reports from Thailand state that some of the pineapples are getting burnt and that growers are wrapping newspaper around each plant in a bid to prevent further exposure to the sun. The fruit is also smaller than expected at this stage.

The unusually hot weather has resulted in raw material prices climbing to THB7.50-8.50/kg, from THB7.00- 8.00/kg last month.

Production from both the Winter and Summer crops in Thailand in 2023 is expected to reach 1.1-1.2 million MT, compared with expectations of 1.2-1.3 million MT last month.
