CROP UPDATES: PASSION FRUIT JUICE - Q2 2024

ECUADOR

  • The outlook for production does not look good for the next couple of months either and local industry sources say they do not expect a recovery until the final quarter of the year at the earliest. Production in 2024 is expected to be significantly lower than in 2023, which itself was a poor production year.
  • Fruit pricing is now around USD 600/MT, compared with USD 500/MT in April. Raw material prices could reach USD 700/MT in May, say processors.
  • Offers for concentrate have now climbed to USD 11,800/MT 50 brix FCA Europe, from USD 10,000 / MT last month.
  • Asking prices for NFC supplies are at USD 3500/MT single strength FCA Europe, compared with USD 3,000 / MT in April.

PERU

  • April has been a very low production month, as it was in March, but the outlook is promising with the advent of a new peak production period which will begin in mid-May or early June.
  • Offers for concentrate from Peru are hard to pin down, but are somewhere between USD 7,100-9,000/MT, against USD 6,300-7,500/MT last month. Asking prices for NFC supplies from Peru are between USD 2,600- 3,150/MT single strength FCA Europe, compared with USD 2,450- 2,500/MT in April.

VIETNAM

  • Production in Vietnam in April was reportedly good and there are sufficient supplies available for processing as a result.
  • Asking prices for concentrate are around USD 5,800-6,600/MT 50 brix FCA Europe, compared with USD 6,150-7,200/MT last month. Prices at the lower end of today’s range represent contracts for prompt shipment.
  • For NFC supplies from Vietnam, offers are between USD 2,300- 2,600/MT single strength FCA Europe, against USD 2,150-2,650/MT last month.
  • Industry sources say it has been very dry in Vietnam due to issues with El
Nino weather patterns. The next key crop will occur in August and should be fine providing there is sufficient rainfall between now and then.
